One of the things I love most about my website is hooking people up with the books they grew up with. Little Golden Books are known as basically toddler age story books, and that is the beauty of them. Those are the ages that you are first learning to read and discovering all that is wonderful about books. Not just the stories but the ability to learn everything and anything about this wonderful world. The 40’s and 50’s especially had some fabulously creative writers and illustrators and Golden Books featured a lot of them. Many of those memories stick with us through the years and as we get older we want to relive and reread those wonderful stories, but many are now out of print. That’s where my website comes in- goldenbookguy.com. I have over 4,000 of those memories waiting to be relived. When I grade each of my book’s listings I always put the name, if there is one, that is listed on the “This Book Belongs To” section on the inside cover. Believe it or not I have hooked up several people with the actual book that they owned when they were young. I can’t tell you how gratifying it is, almost goosebump worthy, when that happens. To actually have a customer find their very own childhood book. What are the odds? It gives me a really warm glow when that happens. I had one gal send me a picture of her in her mom’s lap reading a Big Golden Book to her with the title visible and I had a copy of that book- now she can read it to her kids.
